Three Generations of Men by Allen Cooley

WHAT IM DOING…

In the light of the countless narrative threads focusing on fatherhood across generations, there has been a conspicuous lack of substantial representation of black families in this context. My new project aims to fill this gap and illuminate the relationships between black fathers, sons, and grandfathers. A portrait series that seeks to reveal the strength, wisdom, love, and legacy that threads these generations together, offering a refreshing visual narrative that counters the often one-sided portrayals in popular media.

WHO IM LOOKING FOR…

The subjects of this portrait series will be black men spanning three generations: grandfather, father, and son. Residing in or around Atlanta, GA, these families are invited to be part of an important artistic endeavor that seeks to highlight the beauty of familial bonds. There are no restrictions concerning dress code or age, the authenticity of your shared experience is the only requisite. Your involvement would entail a 30-45 minute session in my studio, an opportunity to make your contribution to this significant narrative entirely free of charge.
